Stainless steel railings by the coast
When ordering your new shiny stainless steel product, be sure to know what stainless steel is used to make it.
There is two types of stainless steel, a G316 ( marine grade) and G304, which should only be used internally. You wouldn’t see a difference when it is just newly installed, however cheaper grade stainless steel will corrode, especially near the coast, where there are high levels if airborne salt and high winds.
There are two main finished of stainless steel: brushed look ( satin) and polished look ( mirror finish). Choosing between two is mainly design preference, however mirror polish will perform better in a property very close the the coast. Regular cleaning with simple soapy water is advised to remove salt. With a bit of care stainless steel railings will look fantastic for many years.
